Although the Palestinian Islamic Jihad (PIJ) was not part of the "secret plans" for the murderous terrorist attack by Hamas on October 7, members of the organization took part in the murder and kidnapping of Israelis that day.
Since the beginning of the fighting, the Islamic Jihad has lost some of its capabilities and leaders, but not at the same rate as Hamas.
The Islamic Jihad is the direct arm of Iran in Gaza and according to reports from there, this is the reason why it has not suffered from a lack of cash since the campaign began. According to sources in Gaza, the organization continues to pay monthly salaries to its people as well as the payment of the "cost of living" to its people who remain in the north of the Gaza Strip.
According to the sources, since the fighting began, most of the first and second rank officials of the Islamic Jihad remained alive, but the field personnel, the rocket launchers, and the mortar squads suffered heavy losses.
The organization claims that it managed to preserve its rocket arsenal better than Hamas and therefore manages to continue launching barrages which do not exceed three rockets at a time.
