Britain has finally designated Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps under new national-security legislation following threats and intimidation linked to the organization on British soil.
The UK government announced that the IRGC will now be treated as a prohibited organization under powers designed to counter hostile foreign-state activity.
British officials said the decision followed evidence of IRGC-linked operations involving threats to life and intimidation inside the country. The designation makes it a criminal offense to support the organization, assist its activities connected to Britain or accept material benefits from it.
The Islamic Movement of Companions of the Right, an Iran-linked organization accused of involvement in attacks against Britain’s Jewish community, was also designated.
