Erdogan’s Riyadh visit highlights deepening Saudi–Turkish ties across energy, technology, security, and regional influence.
President President Erdogan’s visit to Riyadh reflects a clear trend: Saudi Arabia and Turkey are forcefully advancing their relationship toward a “strategic” phase with economic, technological, and security depth.
The economic headline is a renewable energy agreement worth roughly $2 billion, including solar projects in Turkey totaling 2,000 megawatts in the first stage (Sivas and Karaman), as part of a broader Saudi-funded target of 5,000 megawatts in solar and wind projects.
Beyond energy, the joint statement issued after the visit announced three additional agreements and memoranda of understanding covering legal cooperation, peaceful space-industry collaboration, and research, development, and innovation.
