Islamic scholars based in Qom, Iran, including figures from Western countries, voiced extreme positions glorifying jihad and martyrdom during a recent podcast discussion.
Speaking on a March 12 episode, U.K.-based Islamic scholar Mozzafar Haidar expressed support for revenge against Israel, the US, and President Trump, claiming there will be no turning back from confrontation. He said their lives should be filled with “misery, nightmares, and suffering,” openly calling for vengeance.
Australian-based cleric Sayyid Abdullah Almusawi, also speaking from Qom, praised Iran as the only nation actively fighting for Islamic principles. He credited Iranian leaders Ruhollah Khomeini and Ali Khamenei with reviving the ideology of jihad and martyrdom.
Almusawi further claimed that even young children in Iran—some as young as seven or eight—express a desire to become martyrs, presenting this as proof of ideological commitment within Iranian society.
