Iran presented each foreign delegation that attended the funeral of Ayatollah Khomeini with a verse from the Quran, carefully selected to reflect the political context:

* The delegation from Saudi Arabia received a verse about two armies meeting on the battlefield – one believing and the other not.

* The delegation from Turkey received a verse praising the virtues of fighters over those who "stand aside."
