After the complete refusal of Hamas to accept or even discuss any outline of a deal, the US informed the Qatari government that it must expel the political bureau of Hamas from the country, and this after several decades in which the political bureau of Hamas won a permanent residence in Qatar.
Senior officials in the Biden administration confirmed the details to Reuters, saying that "after repeated refusals by the organization to release hostages, its leaders cannot continue to be welcomed with open arms in the capitals of any of America's allies."
Qatari officials also confirmed that they informed the political bureau of Hamas that its members are no longer accepted in the country.
This is the first time during the war that the US has imposed direct sanctions on Hamas in an attempt to force a cease-fire agreement on the organization.
