Dr. Nawaf Al-Takrouri, chairman of the Palestinian Scholars Abroad Association and a member of the board of trustees of the International Union of Muslim Scholars, said in a May 19, 2026 interview that no “reasonable Muslim” could criticize the October 7 Al-Aqsa Flood attack after what he called the “fantastic gains” it produced around the world.
Al-Takrouri argued that the bloodshed and destruction that followed were part of the price of the campaign. He said the liberation of Al-Aqsa Mosque requires sacrifices beyond 70,000 dead, 150,000 wounded, and the destruction of Gaza.
In his remarks, Al-Takrouri said that perhaps liberating Al-Aqsa Mosque would require one million martyrs, adding that it would be a disgrace for the Islamic nation if all of them came only from Gaza rather than from the entire Muslim world.
“This is the plan,” he said.
