Elbit Systems of America and defense technology company Anduril announced on June 2 that they have formed a strategic partnership to offer the SIGMA 155 self-propelled howitzer to the US Army.
The advanced artillery system is already operational with the IDF Artillery Corps under the name “Ro’em” and is considered one of the world’s most modern systems of its kind.
The joint proposal comes shortly before the Pentagon is expected to select the US Army’s next-generation artillery platform. The competition is part of the SPH-M program, which aims to replace the aging M109 system with an existing, proven and operationally tested weapon.
Elbit will provide the long-range firing platform, mounted on a tactical truck manufactured by US company Oshkosh Defense. Anduril will integrate its advanced command-and-control architecture, edge-computing technology and autonomous capabilities.
