The US Air Forces Southern command (AFSOUTH) has published new high-resolution photos confirming that two B-52H “Stratofortress” bombers carried out a major strategic mission along the northern coast of South America.
The aircraft, from the 23rd Bomb Squadron of the 5th Bomb Wing at Minot Air Force Base, flew as part of “Operation Southern Spear,” highlighting Washington’s long-range strike capabilities.
According to the imagery and operational details, the bombers tracked a route near the airspaces of Venezuela, Guyana, and Suriname—a rare deployment of nuclear-capable assets to the region.
The mission comes amid rising tensions with the Maduro regime and underscores US resolve and readiness as President Donald Trump continues applying pressure on Caracas.
