The DS-SAR radar observation satellite was successfully launched into space this morning. The satellite, produced by the Aerospace Industry, was launched at 04:00 from the PSLV C56 launcher from the launch site in India.
The satellite began its mission in space and transmitted first data to the ground station.
In accordance with the original launch plan, the satellite entered its orbit around the Earth, began transmitting data and underwent a series of initial tests by the project's engineers, who verified its integrity and level of performance. The satellite will now begin a complementary and pre-planned process of in-orbit testing after which it will be delivered to the Singapore customers, DSTA and ST Engineering.
The DS-SAR satellite was developed on the basis of experience gained by the Aerospace Industry in the development of the series of advanced observation satellites "Ofek" and TECSAR, which were launched into space as early as 1988.
The SAR radar allows receiving a wide variety of information in different coverages and resolutions day, night and in all condition weather.
