“There are elements linked to the Muslim Brotherhood who are becoming key players in Gaza’s reconstruction program,” the source said.
The UAE is concerned that Qatari and Turkish officials—whom it views as enablers of Hamas—are taking central roles in the international plan to rebuild the Gaza Strip, according to a source familiar with Abu Dhabi’s position who spoke to i24NEWS.
Over the past two years, the UAE has been actively involved in discussions about “the day after” in Gaza. Israel’s Strategic Affairs Minister Ron Dermer has visited the Emirates several times, and the idea of an international stabilization force (ISF) for Gaza was developed partly through talks between senior Israeli, American, and Emirati officials.
Despite its concerns, the UAE still intends to take part in postwar plans for Gaza—but with a focus on humanitarian efforts. “The Emirates will concentrate on humanitarian aid, reconstruction, and helping establish effective governance,” the source told i24NEWS. “They may also assist the multinational ISF force logistically. The UAE’s goal, despite fears over Hamas-aligned involvement, is to help create something new in Gaza—a fresh beginning.”
