Each year, an officer aptitude test is conducted, which examines the abilities and competencies of IDF commanders and commanders from all combat units.
As part of the test, the qualifications of 4,108 officers from the entire IDF, from the rank of lieutenant to the colonel, were measured. The competition, which began in January and ended in April, included four main components:
1. Ability to move over time with weight on a challenging route, which includes climbing dunes, passing through rocks and sharp descents in narrow passages.
2. Accurate and complex navigation, which is a particularly high capability for commanders.
3. Challenging transition between obstacles, when the body is already tired after the navigation effort.
4. Shooting ten bullets at a distance of 40 meters to the target in a state of fatigue and high pulse.
"The aptitude test is one of the difficult tests," notes Col. (Res.) Dahan, "and is only the means. "Our goal is for the competence of the officers on the battlefield to be at its peak, and the training towards the examiner develops among the commanders an excellent physical and mental competence that prepares them well for emergencies in time of war."
