The move follows two weeks of preparations aimed at raising combat readiness for the renewed round of fighting.

In recent days, the division’s fire command center directed strikes against dozens of terror targets in Gaza, with the goal of isolating the battlefield and enabling the maneuvering forces to advance. 

The IDF Southern Command stressed that operations in Gaza will continue as long as necessary to ensure the protection of Israeli civilians.
