WATCH: Iranian professor warns Gulf states may “cease to exist” if US escalates conflict
A Tehran University professor, Mohammad Marandi, stated in a recent interview that Iran would fight to gain control of the Strait of Hormuz and ultimately succeed.
He warned that if the US escalates militarily against Iran and targets its infrastructure, Tehran would retaliate by striking critical infrastructure across the Gulf.
Marandi further claimed that Gulf states could become “unlivable” under such a scenario, predicting that wealthy populations would flee and that current regimes could collapse or be significantly weakened. He added that the “Arab dictatorships” in the Persian Gulf might not survive a major regional war.
