President Trump ally Senator Marco Rubio sharply criticized European Union countries that voiced concerns over US strikes on drug-running boats coming from South America. 

Rubio said the EU has no authority to dictate what international law is, “and they certainly can't decide how the US defends its national security.” His remarks underscore Washington’s stance that defending American territory and confronting cartels is a sovereign responsibility.

Rubio added that Europe regularly expects the US to supply advanced weapons—such as Tomahawk missiles capable of carrying nuclear warheads—to help safeguard the continent.
