Syrian reports said the blast hit the area around the Military Armament Directorate Center, with preliminary reports of at least one person killed and several injured.

The explosion comes amid reports of gunfire and additional blasts across Damascus, including in Christian neighborhoods such as Dweilah, Bab Toma and the Eastern Gate area. Dweilah was the scene of a deadly suicide bombing at the Mar Elias Greek Orthodox Church in June 2025, making the renewed violence especially alarming for Syria’s Christian minority.
