The suspect in the March 12 attack at the Temple Israel synagogue in West Bloomfield, Michigan, has been identified by NBC as Ayman Muhammad A'zali. According to the report, A'zali recently lost two brothers who were killed in an Israeli strike in Lebanon last week.
A Lebanese source confirmed that the two brothers were members of Hezbollah.
Investigators are now examining whether the deaths may have served as a motive for the attack, which targeted a Jewish community institution in the United States.
However, US media reports that mentioned the deaths of the brothers did not note their affiliation with Hezbollah. The reports described them simply as brothers killed in an Israeli strike, creating the impression they were civilians wrongly killed by the IDF.
