Lebanese journalist Rami Naim declares that a future Lebanon–Israel peace agreement is inevitable and only delayed by Iran’s grip on Hezbollah.
Lebanese journalist Rami Naim said in a January 30, 2026 appearance on Voice of Lebanon (YouTube) that history books will one day define Hezbollah as a terrorist organization.
Naim described Hezbollah as a “corpse” that “stinks,” arguing that the group’s influence over Lebanon has devastated the country politically, economically, and diplomatically. He maintained that once Hezbollah’s dominance ends, Lebanon will be able to rejoin the regional order and pursue open ties with Israel.
Expressing support for direct negotiations, Naim said that a peace agreement between Lebanon and Israel is effectively “a done deal.” According to him, the only remaining obstacle is the Iranian regime, which he claimed continues to prop up Hezbollah and block Lebanon from charting an independent course. He asserted that once the regime in Tehran falls, the path to normalization will be clear and swift.
