The Druze in Syria: We do not recognize the Assad government, demand expulsion of Russia and Iran from Syria

The statement, which carried a famous saying of Sultan Pasha al-Atrash, said: "Faith is stronger than any weapon, and a cup full of glory is better than the water of life with humiliation."

A Druze militia located in the Druze region in southern Syria, in the Suwayda district - "The Free People of Jabal al-Arab", published yesterday, Saturday, August 19, a harsh message, through which they expressed their position regarding the popular movement taking place in the areas of the Syrian regime. It is emphasized that they do not recognize the Syrian regime's authority over their territory, while blaming the Russian forces for the starvation of the Syrian people.

The statement opened by saying that the residents of southern Syria do not recognize the government of the Syrian regime, which was defined as "corrupt" and "controlled" by Russia and Iran.

The statement demanded the immediate termination of the regime's government services in their region, as this is a group of rogue agents who, together with the Russian forces, are responsible for decisions that put the Syrian people at risk of poverty.

The Al-Ahrar statement called on the international community to support the National Liberation Forces, expel the Russian Mandate Authority and the Iranian militias and end their hegemony over Syria's wealth, in addition to the release of all prisoners of conscience in Syria and the release of public liberties.

The statement emphasized the need to act to overthrow the current constitution, which is adapted to the needs of only a few sections of the people, and to return to the independence constitution issued in 1943. The statement also called for the opening of humanitarian transit with the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan.

As a result of the above, the free people of southern Syria began civil disobedience acts that encompasses all sectors, and called on all the people of the Syrian governorships to heed the call of the men of honor (the Druze), by joining this disobedience on a large scale.

The markets of the city of al-Suwayda became almost empty from Sunday morning, when the shops closed their doors in protest of the unjust decisions of the authority and the deterioration of living conditions.

Since the morning, demonstrations were held in several places in al-Suwayda, the largest of which was in Al-Sar square in the heart of al-Suwayda.

The demonstrators chanted: "Syria is starting to be free", and "Leave, Bashar".

Most of the means of public transportation on the internal lines of the governorate have been on strike in recent days in the governorates of "Aleb, Homs, al-Suwayda, Deraa and parts of Damascus and Rif Damascus, Latakia and Tartus", against the background of the increase in fuel prices.

Observers believe that the scope of the demonstrations may expand in the coming days to the rest of the Syrian cities, which are under the control of the regime, as a result of the deterioration of economic conditions.
