One crew member killed and eight injured, four critically, in targeted cruise missile strikes in Omani waters.
Two UAE oil tankers, the Mombasa and the Al-Bahia, were struck by Iranian cruise missiles overnight Monday while transiting the southern passage of the Strait of Hormuz. The UAE Defense Ministry confirmed the targeted attack took place within Omani territorial waters, killing one Indian crew member and injuring eight others.
The strike wounded six Indian and two Ukrainian nationals, leaving four in critical condition. While the missile impacts ignited fires aboard both vessels, emergency crews successfully contained the blazes. Both tankers suffered material damage but remained under crew control throughout the incident.
The UAE Defense Ministry condemned the assault as a grave violation of international law and a direct threat to regional stability. Warning that the nation "reserves the full right to respond to this escalation," the ministry declared all forces are on full alert to defend Emirati sovereignty. Officials urged the public to rely strictly on official updates and avoid spreading unverified information.
