For the first time, the United Nations has called on the Israel Defense Forces for help against Hamas.
The UN reported that armed Hamas terrorists opened fire on UN vehicles in the southern Gaza Strip and expelled UN workers who were paving roads to enable humanitarian aid trucks to pass.
According to the UN account, the terrorists forced the workers off the site and seized their vehicles, including a bulldozer and several jeeps. They then blocked the freshly paved road with sand to obstruct the passage of aid convoys bound for civilians in Gaza.
UN officials urgently notified the IDF of the incident, marking the first documented case in which the international body appealed directly to Israel for protection from Hamas. The rare move underscores both the severity of the incident and growing frustration within the UN over Hamas’s interference in aid delivery.
