The incident began with stone-throwing between Israeli civilians and Palestinians near the community. 

During the clash, a terrorist seized the rifle of one of the Israeli civilians and fled toward Hebron. Shots were subsequently heard being fired into the air. An Israeli was struck in the head by a stone, injured and evacuated for medical treatment.

IDF troops established roadblocks throughout the area and began pursuing the terrorist and the stolen weapon.
