There are growing signs that the Palestinian Authority is shifting course and building an army to confront Israel
Late last weekend, the IDF arrested three PA police officers and eliminated an operative from the PA security apparatus who carried out shooting attacks against IDF soldiers in northern Samaria. In the town of Tel near Nablus, an IDF fighter was wounded by gunfire from a PA security officer, Younes Walid Ashtiyeh, who was killed last Friday.
Another PA security gunman was arrested alongside him. In Burqin, another PA security operative who conducted a shooting attack on Israeli forces was detained, and in Tubas, an additional armed PA member was arrested.
Fatah-affiliated channels report that during the operation in Tel near Nablus, Yamam forces killed PA police officer Younes Walid Ashtiyeh. Ashtiyeh was an operative of the Al-Aqsa Martyrs’ Brigades, the military wing of Fatah. He opened fire on IDF forces and wounded an Israeli soldier. He was eliminated after Yamam fighters encircled the building where he was barricaded.
