WATCH: IAEA chief raises alarm over Syria nuclear materials
The head of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), Rafael Grossi, has issued a stark warning that the world may be approaching a new nuclear arms race, driven by escalating global conflicts and the erosion of non-proliferation safeguards.
In particular, he highlighted serious concerns over unresolved nuclear materials in Syria.
Speaking to The Telegraph, Grossi warned that the current instability could lead to a “collapse of the nuclear non-proliferation regime,” adding that up to 20 countries could begin pursuing nuclear weapons if the trend continues.
