Mojtaba Khamenei issued a full statement on the memorandum of understanding signed between Iran and the United States
The reclusive 'Supreme Leader' made clear that he personally had a different view — but approved the step after receiving commitments from Iran’s senior national security leadership.
In the statement, Khamenei said Iranian officials acted out of “concern and good intention,” while claiming that it was the US president who used “all means out of desperation” to reach the agreement.
Khamenei stressed that his approval was conditional. He said the president of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council had promised, on behalf of himself and the other members, to protect the rights of the Iranian people and the “resistance front.” He added that Iran would not accept any attempt by the American side to demand more than what was agreed.
