Recent satellite imagery has confirmed that Morocco has deployed the Israeli-made Barak MX air defense system at the Sidi Yahya El Gharb air defense base, northeast of the capital Rabat.
This marks clear evidence that the system has entered operational service more than two years after Morocco signed a major defense deal with Israel.
Images published by defense-focused platforms show key components of the system positioned inside the facility, indicating that Morocco’s Royal Armed Forces have fully integrated it into their operational military infrastructure.
Morocco reportedly signed the $500 million deal in February 2022. The Barak MX system is designed to intercept aircraft, drones, and ballistic missiles. It includes a battle management center, advanced ELM-2084 radars, and launchers capable of firing interceptors at ranges of 35, 70, and 150 kilometers. The system also underwent operational use during the conflict with Iran in June 2025.
