At the start of "Operation Guardian of the Wall" in May 2021, the Air Force attacked a tunnel more than twenty feet deep. The terrorists who were inside planned to leave the tunnel, penetrate through the fence into Israel and kidnap soldiers 

During the operation, the IDF attacked two tunnels while the fighters of the Hamas elite unit were staying in them.
