Have Kentucky voters gotten as sick of Massie than the rest of us? Rep. Thomas Massie is facing what could become the toughest race of his political career as new polling shows him trailing in Kentucky’s Republican primary against Trump-backed challenger Ed Gallrein.
According to a new Quantas Insights poll, Gallrein leads Massie 53% to 45% among likely Republican voters in Kentucky’s 4th Congressional District. Among the most committed GOP voters, Gallrein still holds a lead of 48% to 43%.
The race has become one of the most closely watched Republican primaries in the US after Massie repeatedly clashed with President Donald Trump over spending, taxes, and foreign policy. Massie recently opposed Trump’s “One Big Beautiful Bill,” warning it would sharply increase deficits and federal debt. He also supported efforts to limit unilateral presidential military action without congressional approval.
Trump responded by aggressively targeting Massie, calling him “the worst person” among House Republicans and mocking him as “Rand Paul Jr.”
