A senior security source in Hamas said that a courier, who was responsible for delivering mail and messages from Muhammad Shabana, commander of the Rafah Brigade in Al-Aksam, knew about the meeting place of Muhammad Deif and Rafe Salameh, commander of the Khan Yunis Brigade.

According to sources, the collaborator, from a large family in Rafah, informed Israel of Deif's location and he was immediately eliminated.
