The Syrian Interior Ministry announced on Saturday that its internal security forces had intercepted a shipment of Kornet anti-tank missiles being smuggled out of the country near Qusayr, in southern Homs province.
In a Facebook post, the ministry said the shipment—carried on two motorcycles—was intended for cross-border smuggling. It added that this was the second such operation within two weeks, following “extensive investigations and continuous monitoring of illegal arms sources,” which led to the complete confiscation of the missiles.
Authorities confirmed that investigations are ongoing “to identify all those involved, determine the weapons’ sources, and take strong legal action against them.”
