Unit 81, a technological unit of the Armed Forces, recently developed, together with the 'New Guards' organization (volunteer civilian guards), modern technologies that will help prevent thefts in agricultural areas. Unit 81 is considered one of the most classified in the IDF, and it develops and manufactures weapons and operational technological solutions.
Major S., head of the unit, described the development process after meeting with farmers and understanding their needs. “This is a very complex problem with many layers of pasture, fields, and groves. We tried to understand in meetings with them what would solve their problems. "They receive alerts about presence on the ground, and thefts but they are inaccurate," he said.
The officer stressed that the uniqueness of the newly developed system is in its level of accuracy. "We developed a system that detects and alerts during an agricultural crime incident using advanced sensors. The system knows whether it is a farmer or non-farmer, a friend or an enemy. Also, the system gives an immediate alert directly to the farmer's phone."
