Syria’s Defense Ministry announced that two Katyusha rockets were launched late Friday from the suburbs of Damascus, striking a three-story residential building in the Al-Mazza 86 neighborhood in the western part of the capital.
The official statement described the attack as “a treacherous act of aggression.” Several civilians were injured, and damage was caused to the building and surrounding area.
The ministry said a joint investigation with the Interior Ministry has begun to trace the rockets’ trajectory and identify the launch site. It added that “the army will not hesitate to pursue those responsible for this criminal act and will take deterrent measures against anyone who threatens the security and stability of Syria’s capital.”
Unnamed Syrian sources quoted by the Qatari-affiliated *Al-Araby Al-Jadeed* reported that security forces located improvised launch equipment overnight in an open area near the Kafr Souseh district. According to preliminary assessments, the intended target was the presidential palace located in the upscale Al-Mazza area.
