French special forces intercept Russian tanker off Saint-Nazaire

French Army Special Forces intercepted a Russian-linked tanker off the coast of Saint-Nazaire on Wednesday, French media reported. The vessel, flying the Beninese flag, was found in an offshore wind farm in Loire-Atlantique.

Authorities suspect the ship belongs to Russia’s so-called “shadow fleet,” a network of vessels used to evade sanctions and covertly support Moscow’s operations. Investigators believe the tanker may have been used as a launch platform for drones that recently flew over Denmark.
