Afghanistan's ruling body has issued a series of new restrictions on entertainment, which require journalists and submitters to cover their heads and ban the screening of films that violate "Afghan Sharia law and values."
Afghanistan bans women from appearing on TV series, and journalists and presenters are required to cover their hair during broadcasts, although the Taliban's new regulations do not define the coverage for which they are required. The journalists claim that some of the eight new regulations published by the extremist organization are vague and subject to different interpretations.
The Taliban, which regained control of Afghanistan in August during the chaotic withdrawal of the United States, almost immediately restricted the freedoms enjoyed by Afghan women for the past 20 years.
Among other things, it banned or significantly restricted girls and girls from studying in educational institutions, and workers were required to stay in their homes unless there were no men who could fulfill their duties. This is despite the fact that the Taliban claim that this is only a "temporary" step until the environment is "safe" for them.
