Abdulrahman al-Qardawi, an Egyptian activist facing charges of incitement to violence and terrorism in Cairo, was apprehended by Lebanese security forces after crossing the porous border from Syria. This information comes from two judicial and one security official who requested anonymity due to restrictions on speaking to the media.

Al-Qardawi, who has been living in Turkey, is a vocal critic of the Egyptian government. He reportedly traveled to Syria to participate in celebrations following the downfall of Bashar al-Assad.

His late father, Youssef al-Qaradawi, was a prominent and controversial cleric associated with the banned Muslim Brotherhood, having spent many years in exile in Qatar.
