An American official confirmed that President Trump’s envoy, Massad Boulos, will lead the Quartet’s meetings on Sudan.
Despite Sudan’s Sovereignty Council denying any direct or indirect talks with representatives of the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) in Washington, diplomatic sources revealed that Sudanese Foreign Minister Mohiuddin Salem arrived in the US for an official visit to discuss efforts to end the war raging in Sudan for over two years.
According to Al-Arabiya, Salem will hold a series of meetings in Washington with senior US officials, including Boulos, Trump’s senior adviser on Middle East and African affairs. The sources added that Salem will also meet with several Arab counterparts, noting that his visit comes at the formal invitation of the US administration to discuss key shared interests.
An American source told Al-Arabiya that Boulos will chair the Quartet’s sessions on the Sudanese crisis.
