The special envoy of the Russian president to Syria, Alexander Lavrentiev, revealed that Israel stopped informing Russia before its attacks on Syria.
In statements reported by the Russian "TAS" agency, Lavrentiev said that Israel "long ago stopped informing Russia in advance of attacks in Syria", and added that "the change has nothing to do with the war in Gaza".
The Russian diplomat confirmed that "despite our insistence on receiving warnings before an attack, and having a prior agreement on this, the Israelis did not change their position, and the messages continued to arrive only after the attacks."
COLLISION PREVENTION MECHANISM
Since the fall of 2015, Russia and Israel have established a communication mechanism to prevent accidental clashes and other incidents during military operations in Syria, when Israel launched a "hot coordination line" with the Russian Hamaimim base in northwestern Syria.
The "collision prevention" mechanism was strengthened after a Russian plane was mistakenly shot down by Syrian air defense systems in 2018, and since then both sides have worked to improve the "accidental conflict system", while Moscow has allowed Tel Aviv to launch hundreds of strikes against Iranian targets in Syria.
On October 26, Israel's ambassador to Russia, Alexander Ben Zvi, confirmed that the "collision prevention" mechanism between Moscow and Tel Aviv in Syria "is still working, and nothing has changed in it," and noted that "everything agreed upon in the advance notice remains in effect at this moment.
