CHELTENHAM, PA — A group of students at Cheltenham High School, the alma mater of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, is demanding his removal from the school’s Alumni Hall of Fame. They claim it’s because of his ongoing corruption trial and a recent International Criminal Court warrant but let’s be honest: this smells less like a legal concern and more like old-fashioned political bias, with a whiff of something uglier.

Over 200 students signed a petition to kick Netanyahu off the wall, citing the ICC’s attempt to indict him for war crimes over Israel’s war with Hamas. That same ICC, mind you, is equating a democratic state defending itself with a terrorist group that massacred civilians on October 7. That doesn’t seem to bother the students.

They insist it’s about “values” and “accountability,” and that the Hall of Fame should only honor figures who are beyond reproach. But nobody’s buying that. This isn’t about legal process—it’s about ideology. The selective outrage is glaring: no petitions to remove other alumni with far less global impact, no uproar over figures accused of domestic crimes. Just the Jewish prime minister of Israel, the only democracy in the Middle East, who happens to be fighting a war for his country’s survival.

And let’s not ignore the timing. Calls to remove Netanyahu have ramped up not just because of a court case—but because he’s become the left’s favorite punching bag amid the ongoing conflict in Gaza. When Jewish students face skyrocketing anti-semitism on campuses across the world, this kind of stunt doesn’t exactly help.

Netanyahu, who graduated from Cheltenham in 1967 and was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 1997, has shrugged off the effort.

In a Fox News interview with fellow Cheltenham alum Mark Levin, he joked, “Well, they haven’t kicked me out yet. Great achievement.”

The school district is now “reviewing” the matter—because apparently, we now need to have debates about whether one of the most prominent world leaders of the past three decades is worthy of a hallway plaque because a few teenagers got offended.

If only these students spent as much time studying actual history as they do rewriting it.
