A Black American father speaking at a school board meeting delivered a passionate speech against Critical Race Theory (CRT), arguing that modern identity politics and grievance-based education are harming children rather than helping them.
The speaker, whose remarks received a standing ovation from many in attendance, explained that despite descending from slaves on both sides of his family, he does not consider himself oppressed or a victim.
He described traveling across the United States and being treated “with kindness, dignity, and respect,” while warning that teaching children to see themselves primarily through race creates division instead of opportunity.
He argued that children should be taught personal responsibility, hard work, and good decision-making rather than being told they are trapped by historical injustices. In one of the most widely shared parts of the speech, he claimed that racism in America would largely fade away “if not for certain people and institutions keeping it on life support,” specifically criticizing parts of the American education system for promoting racial grievance narratives.
