Syrian-Druze Sheikh Fadi Badriya: We demand to secede from Syria unless the regime stands trial in an international court
Syrian-Druze Sheikh Fadi Badriya said in an August 28, 2025 interview with Russia Today TV that the Druze are demanding to secede from Syria, unless the Syrian "despotic" regime stands trial in an international court.
He stressed that the Druze community is entirely separate from the regime, which has labeled them infidels based on Ibn Taymiyya’s fatwa.
Fadi Badriya: "We [Druze] laid the cornerstone for the [1925] Great Syrian Revolt. Sultan Pasha Al-Atrash declined the post of president [of Syria] and he refused to secede [from Syria], because of the Syrian unity that once existed. But today... Every era has its men. We are living in a different era.
