The US Department of Justice has reportedly opened a broad wave of investigations into multiple media outlets following President Donald Trump’s anger over reports based on leaked information related to the war with Iran.
According to a report in The Wall Street Journal, some of the reports that most frustrated Trump involved discussions among his senior advisers over whether and how to strike Iran. One report claimed that Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff General Dan Caine warned Trump about the dangers of a prolonged war with Iran.
The report also revealed that during one of the meetings on the issue, Trump reportedly handed Acting Attorney General officials a stack of news articles that had angered him. A sticker labeled “treason” was reportedly attached to the pile.
The investigations are said to focus on identifying the sources behind sensitive leaks connected to military planning and national security discussions during the Iran conflict.
