A previously unknown Shiite group has claimed responsibility for a series of attacks targeting Jewish sites across Europe, raising growing concerns over possible Iranian-linked activity on the continent.
Shiite-affiliated social media channels published a video overnight from a group calling itself “Ashab al-Yamin al-Islamia,” in which it claimed responsibility for setting fire to a Jewish site in Amsterdam early Saturday morning. The same group also took responsibility for recent attacks on synagogues in Liège, Belgium, and Rotterdam, Netherlands.
According to an analysis published by the independent Arab outlet Al-Manashar, a close examination of the group’s symbols, messaging and video distribution channels points to “deep ties to the Shiite armed axis operating under Tehran’s patronage.”
At the same time, the monitoring site Bawabat al-Harakat al-Islamia, which tracks Islamist movements, noted that the group only emerged in recent days and has no known history. It reportedly lacks an official Telegram channel and has no independent social media presence—an unusual pattern for an organization seeking to establish a public identity.
