UAE Ambassador to the US, Yousef Al Otaiba, wrote in the Wall Street Journal that Iran “cannot win” and faces a reality it cannot accept, pointing to damage to its nuclear capabilities and the weakening of its proxy forces.
He stressed that more action is needed and declared that the UAE is ready to join an international initiative to reopen and secure the Strait of Hormuz, ensuring it remains open to global shipping. Al Otaiba also highlighted that stronger economic ties with the US will reinforce both nations.
NEWSRAEL: WHY THIS IS IMPORTANT
This statement reflects a growing alignment between Gulf states and the US against Iran, not just diplomatically but also in potential operational cooperation in critical waterways. The Strait of Hormuz is a strategic chokepoint for global energy supplies, and UAE willingness to actively help secure it signals readiness for a more assertive regional role.
