A Hamas document handwritten by the dead head of Hamas shows that Yahya Sinwar personally outlined the October 7 assault more than a year before it was carried out.
An official Hamas document dated August 24, 2022, reportedly discovered in Gaza and written in Sinwar’s handwriting, contains detailed operational instructions for the attack on Israel. Its contents were analyzed by the Meir Amit Intelligence and Terrorism Information Center.
The document indicates that October 7 was not a spontaneous terrorist assault, but a carefully prepared strategic operation intended to trigger a multi-front war and transform the regional balance. It outlined deception measures before the attack, rapid breaches through dozens of border points and the deployment of thousands of trained terrorists in separate units with defined missions.
Some units were assigned to seize Israeli communities, while others were tasked with attacking military sites, blocking major junctions and delaying IDF reinforcements. The terrorists were instructed to advance in several waves and establish control before Israel could organize an effective response.
