American forces have reportedly prevented the escape of thousands of ISIS terrorists from detention facilities in Syria amid ongoing regional chaos and fighting.
According to a report on Fox News, US troops in recent weeks foiled what officials described as a potential mass breakout of approximately 6,000 ISIS operatives — referred to by intelligence sources as “the worst of the worst.” The attempted escape was said to be taking place under the cover of instability and clashes in the area.
Intelligence officials revealed that in a covert operation, the detainees were transferred to new high-security detention facilities in Iraq. A senior US intelligence official warned that an escape on such a scale could have triggered a major resurgence of the ISIS terror organization across the region.
