What if Hasan Nasrallah's body had been in Israeli custody? And how would Hezbollah react to his Successor (Qassem’s) capture?
The sudden and unexpected demise of Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah in a targeted Israeli airstrike has sent shockwaves across the Middle East.
After several days of his elimination, we saw his body being pulled in a bag from that deep hole in his underground hiding place. His body remained intact. Surely the IDF knew exactly where Nasrallah was and they could have retrieved his body before Hezbollah men could find him.
Arabs are still in shock of what happened, so they were in complete panic just after Nassrallah' elimination, that is, no action could be taken.
If that happened and given that Nasrallahs' body was intact, the IDF could have shown the body on TV after dressing it in a white nylon prisoner suit. Hezbollah would then have accepted any Israeli conditions to retrieve the body back.
Beyond the possible fate of Nasrallah's body, there is another intriguing possibility: the capture of current Hezbollah leader Naim Qassem alive. Qassem, a long-time associate of Nasrallah, is considered a highly influential figure within the organisation. His capture and subsequent trial in Israel could be a devastating blow to Hezbollah's morale and operational capabilities.
Such a high-profile trial, akin to that of Saddam Hussein, would not only serve as a powerful deterrent but could also expose the inner workings of Hezbollah and its global support networks. It would also provide Israel with a valuable opportunity to discredit Hezbollah's ideology and undermine its legitimacy.
The potential capture of Nasrallah's body or Qassem would have significant implications for the Arab world. It would demonstrate Israel's military superiority and its willingness to take bold action to protect its security interests. Such a move could also embolden other regional powers to confront Hezbollah and its allies.
Let us hope the IDF will do it!
