Jewish communities across Europe and the United States were targeted. In Michigan, a synagogue with over 100 preschoolers inside was nearly the site of a mass casualty attack.

And yet, these incidents are often framed as a reaction to the war in the Middle East.

That framing shifts responsibility away from the people committing the violence, blurs who is actually being targeted, and turns deliberate attacks into something that feels inevitable.
