An airport for Gazans?

In northern Sinai, work is being completed to expand and protect Al-Arish Airport, which is supposed to be used as an airport for residents of the Gaza Strip. The Egyptian authorities have announced that work is underway to build a road from the Rafah crossing to the airport.

Along this road were placed walls to prevent the leakage of passengers from and to the field into Sinai territory. The Gazans will be able to fly from Al-Arish to destinations within Egypt but also to destinations in the region such as Jeddah in Saudi Arabia and Jordan.

It will be recalled that Al-Arish Airport was formerly used as the headquarters of the "Palestinian Airline" after Israel destroyed the Yasser Arafat Airport in the Gaza Strip.
