An Israeli source has criticized the ongoing nuclear talks between Iran and the United States, saying they resemble the 2015 JCPOA agreement signed during the Obama administration. However, unlike back then, Israel now feels more involved in the process due to ongoing communications with Washington.
In an interview with Jewish Insider, the source expressed concern over the current direction of the talks, stating that Israelis are not happy with what appears to be a return to a JCPOA-style deal. Still, the source noted that Israel is no longer being sidelined, as it was under Obama, when it learned about the negotiations through the Mossad rather than directly from the U.S.
“It definitely looks like the JCPOA,” the source said. “Are we happy about it? I don’t think that impression comes across from anything the Prime Minister has said.”
The source added that Israel now feels more engaged, thanks to what were described as “intensive” discussions with a range of American officials—including those more dovish on Iran. These talks aim to ensure that Israeli interests are protected.
