Since Israel’s strike in Doha last week, Egyptian media has grown increasingly heated, apparently out of fear that Israel may also target senior terrorists based in Cairo.
Reports also indicate that security coordination with Israel has been reduced to a minimum.
Retired General Samir Farag, one of Egypt’s most prominent military analysts and a figure close to the regime, addressed Cairo’s decision yesterday to partially suspend security coordination with Israel.
According to him, this was a “clear message” that Egypt opposes Israel’s actions against the Gazans. Farag stressed that Israel “would not dare” to attempt in Egypt what it did in Qatar, because “the Egyptian army is strong and the response would be decisive.”
